Hey Everybody! I have just released my new album ‘Unhinged’ which is inspired by great games such as the Silent Hill series. You can stream or download the full album for free on my youtube channel!
@Grafiction There’s lots of symbolism in these monsters, just a slightly different kind than the ones James had to face.
The only thing I don’t agree with in regards to the Insane Cancers is that I don’t think they represent the fear of a baby developing cancer in the womb, but more they represent visually a baby, bumbling around, unsure on it’s feet, and the fear of a baby growing inside the womb in itself a cancerous growth, that leeches energy from the mother.
at first the guy sounded chinese then british
Watching this reminds me of The Suffering when you read the book of the monsters.
Good god your voice is soothing man
@Roy172551 The simple answer would be: because we all do.
why this game obsesses with woman’s genital and rapeing people
Because the Slurper is like a drug addict needing more in movement it could represent Heather’s memory of her use of cigarettes. This is reinforced when Heather examines a pack of cigarettes and says “I’ve quit for good this time.”
The Split Worm, like the Numb Bodies, can symbolise the child in Heather being born. But because of how it enters and exits the battle arena could also symbolis that Heather’s first sexual experience was painful.
Technically the Closer can represent Dahlia Gillespe’s abuse towards Alessa, this is reinforced with the idea that it wears a skirt.
The Insane Cancer usually represent the child as a disease or as Alessa being a disease.
The Numb Bodies represent Heather’s ideas of motherhood and pregnancy in general rather than still birth.
Pendulums could also represent Heather and Alessa fighting to be dominant, which explains why they spin as they move.
I don’t thing the monsters in SH3 have a meaning behind them. SH2 was full of symbolism, but in 3 they got back to the roots and just made monsters I think.
Valtiel also is suppose to be the angel closest to god. He is helping her to aid the birth of god
Brilliant! I am a huge fan of Silent Hill—both the games and the movie. I always struggled with trying to understand some of the monsters.
well, there is a scun in SH3 that talks about a guy named Stunly or something, I think its releted to Valtiel
Who raped heather?? mabey claudia paid someone?
Bravo, good sir. However, you seem to forget more about the phallic ideas of the creatures. Each of the creatures are more masculine rather than feminine, displaying not so much a fear of childbirth, but of rape, abuse, and torment, thus going into your theory that the monsters are based around Heather’s forced birth she never wanted. In a way, it is Heather dealing with being raped and having to be burdened with conception and inception.
I think the Closer represents Alessa’s mother that was abusive to her and beats her on a daily basis. Notice the skirt-like thing on it as well as the head that looks like a pair of lips or perhaps, a vagina.
I’d say a critical flaw in your analysis is your presumption, or at least implication, that Heather wants “God” to be born. You admit to as much at the end of your video, but your statement implies that she unconsciously does want a child. You never go into detail about what causes you to believe this.
this is why i dont want to have kids mosters will come
Maje a “Silent Hill 4 Monster Analysis” please!
I quite enjoyed this
You are right Lynn358, and as the ‘God’ is in Heather’s womb and the father is generally there to help the pregnant woman, Valtiel represents how Heather expects men to behave.
Valtiel protects Heather, fights off enemies and ushers in her child. In a strange way, he is a good boyfriend/lover/husband.
I never knew the monsters in the third games symbolized sex. o_o
And Valtie is actually God’s attendant.
Good job, I never thought much about SH3′s monsters up until today…
The whole theme about birth seems so clear now…
